DEVICE + PROCESS METRICS

GPU Miner API

Make GPU data easier to understand. Separate device observations, mining-process activity, and upstream results in a read-only monitoring view.

Stable identity

Keep hardware identifiers separate from changeable device indexes and display names.

Explicit measurements

Document units, source limitations, and the boundary of every power or temperature reading.

Workload context

Do not equate busy hardware with useful work accepted by an upstream service.

Start with the local tools you can verify

Choose a documented observation interface for the hardware you are authorized to monitor. NVIDIA's system-management documentation describes query options and the scope of supported observations. Field availability varies, so inspect the actual device and driver rather than assuming that an example from another host will work unchanged. Read the NVIDIA SMI reference.

Inventory should record expected devices independently of the most recent collection result. If a device disappears from an observation cycle, retain its row and show that its telemetry is missing. Silent removal makes the most important failure harder to notice.

Keep the layers separate

Device utilization, mining-software performance, and upstream acknowledgments answer different questions. Give each its own source and timestamp. Your dashboard can bring them together while preserving those distinctions. An apparent mismatch is a reason to investigate, not permission to invent a hardware diagnosis.

The GPU demo fixture uses fictional observations for interface testing. Its algorithm label is intentionally a sample workload; it is not an Ethereum mainnet mining claim or a connection to a live GPU farm. Read the companion guide for a complete approach to normalization, stale data, and collection budgets.

Test the consumer before the collector

Start with predictable sample payloads, then add unavailable sensors, failed queries, extra devices, and unknown schema versions. Keep administrative controls out of the first implementation. The result is a reusable rendering layer that can later consume an approved collector without exposing private credentials to the browser.
